The PMCFD-BRD is a PMC FDDI network adaptor based on the chipset AMD Supernet 3 for what concerns the network side and on a proprietary ASIC for the PCI bus interface. On the front panel there are two SC fibre optic multimodal connectors, that correspond to ANSI x 3T9.5 Dual Attachment Station included in the ANSI x 3T12.1 standard. The PMCFD-BRD handles either the PCI local bus interface and the FDDI internal data path; the integrity of the exchanged data is assured by the parity generation and control functions.
